Is science required? (btw - new to the forums, nice to 'meet' you all)
This is my first year homeschooling. We were using Five in a Row for science and using it to supplement our reading, though our core for phonics, reading and writing is Funnix. Anyhow, we discovered we don't love it. At all. So I think for the remainder of our K year, I just want to stay with Funnix and Math - which was MCP math but we've finished the workbook and so are moving onto Singapore.
Is it "ok" to skip science this year and then work on a science curr next school year?

Oh yes- absolutely. Language arts and math would be the only two subjects I'd say not to drop in K, but even those - at that age level- go at the child's pace.

Hi Leigh, we just started our first in Kindergarten too!
We're just a week in and haven't done the science workbook yet, but it looks to be a *very* gentle introduction. We probably cover more informally just through walks and books and such. We're doing the Kolbe plan for phonics and religion also (used Who Am I's preschool books already with success), though I couldn't resist trying out Singapore Math instead of MCP.
