Good book to go with Men of Rome? |
|
Hello,
I'm wondering what Lit. book for grades 4-6 would go well with the Famous Men of Rome History book? I have a 5th grader and would like to coordinate both courses if I can.
Thanks for any feedback and/or suggestions!!
God bless,
Joan

I will ping Marita on this too, but the Bronze Bow comes to mind immediately.

The Children's Homer, The Bronze Bow. You may want to get a hold of the Oxford Children's book on the Iliad. I haven't seen it in years, but it may still be around. Try also these titles from Hillside Publications. I haven't read them yet. It's on my list of things to do, but who knows when that will be with the holidays coming. Hillside is a Catholic publisher, and you will find may things that could complement your child's history studies. Here are the books: City of the Golden House, Word to Caesar (Rome), Lives from Plutarch (Rome), and they should have a children's Herodotus. For other historical titles try St. George books. I haven't read those either. Best wishes.
